An Airport Farewell

Last week I bid farewell to a beloved co-worker of mine.  Tracy and I have worked together for about five years.  He's moving on to bigger and better things.  To send him on his way, we had a farewell cookout at the airport (this happens to be where we work by the way!). I got to make the cupcakes for the event.
Our company does maintenance work for a major airline so I made tools and airplanes flying in the sky!

I love these little airplanes! They were a big hit at the party.
Best of luck Tracy!

Orange Leopard Nail Art

I've been wanting to try a leopard print for awhile now but my box of nail polish is overflowing. Buying a new color was just something I couldn't justify.  So I decided to try it with a different shade, orange! I used orange polish as the base, gold and black for the print.  If you've read my nail art posts before, you know that I only do my ring finger.  I personally love the look, but also it makes nail art way less intimidating when you know you only need to do it twice instead of ten times!
Im loving the way the orange turned out!
Any suggestions for nail art I should try in the future?

T.G.I. Friday's Blogger Tasting Event

So as it turns out I'm a food blogger....
Why yes, I am aware of the content I post on here, but when I think of "food blogger" I think of some of the bigger more popular names out there. Not lil ole me.
A few weeks ago I received an email inviting me to a MN Food Blogger Tasting Event at T.G.I. Fridays...wait, tasting new foods? Hanging out with other foodies? And lets not forget the part where they email said I was an actual "food blogger"...ha ha! I'm in!

If you haven't been to a TGI Fridays in awhile, then you may not know that they have completely revamped their look and their menu. The options on the menu now have a fresh style to them.  Everything is fresh cut, fresh squeezed and freshly delicious!
Here are a few of my favorites....
Ahi Tuna with Avocado Crisps....omg yum.
Thai Steak Salad....I love the warm steak, cold greens and veggies, but the dressing was what really made this all work.  The different flavors melding together, so worth it.
Warm Pretzels with Beer Cheese Dipping Sauce....this was by far my favorite.  Simple, delicious.

I have to admit, I was really surprised at how awesome their new menu is.  So much so that I dragged my co-workers to happy hour the next day and practically force fed them the pretzels myself!
If you haven't been to Friday's in awhile, now is the time to give it a second chance.
I'd love to hear your feedback if you go! Leave a comment with your favorite menu item!

**I have not received any compensation for this post. The opinions are my own, from my own personal experience. TGI Fridays has not asked me to advertise for them.  So yeah peeps, the food's that good I'm mentioning it for free!

Real Party: Inspired Reader Baby Shower

I am so excited to share with you a real party from reader Tracy Wright! Tracy is a fan of Fairytale Frosting and shared with me a jungle theme baby shower she put together. Tracy used my African Oreos and Recycle Paper Palm Tree tutorials and came up with some pretty great ideas of her own! Check it out!
I have to admit, I think her trees turned out better than mine!
I particularly love that this sign mentions Darwin being excited to meet the new baby too.  Darwin is their dog! Its such a thoughtful touch!
Tracy put up jungle decals and these animal print takeout boxes. I love that she used them as both favors and part of the decor.
What a fun jungle chandelier!  Great way to incorporate some baby toys!
Great party Tracy! Thank you so much for sharing!

Titanic Toilet Paper

I found this idea on Pinterest and decided to recreate it myself.  While my boyfriend took a nap, I grabbed some sharpies and got to work.  He woke up sometime later, and the house echoed with his laughter when he discovered my art.
I've been dying to do this in a public restroom, but so far, I've only come across rolls without the perforations between squares.  *sigh*

Green Ombre Shamrock Nail Art

St Patrick's Day is fast approaching, and this year it falls on a Saturday! Are any of you planning big festivities to celebrate?
I got the party started early with a green ombre manicure and a little shamrock too!
The ombre effect is really easy to create.  Grab a paper plate, and pour some clear polish onto it.  Add 4-5 drops of your desired color (in this case, green).  Using the color brush, mix together.  Put a coat of the polish mixture on your nails.  It will be very light in color.
Then, move about 1/3 of the way up your nail and put another coat on.  Repeat a 3rd time, moving 2/3 of the way up your nail.
Let the polish set for a few minutes and then polish with a clear top coat.
I used the full strength green polish and a toothpick to create the shamrock on my ring finger.  If you decide to do this, do it before you put on your clear top coat.

So, what are your plans for St Patrick's Day?

Zombies!

Last week, I had a pretty full week with my job, orders and other commitments.  So when I got an email from one of my favorite clients needing a last minute birthday cupcake order, I was hesitant to try and squeeze it in. Then she told me it was for her friend who is obsessed with zombies! What?! YES! I happen to really like zombies too. My friends and I participated in one of the zombie pub crawls in Minneapolis. I also am addicted to The Walking Dead.  Then she told me that her friend also happens to be a ballerina.  A zombie ballerina?! It was a challenge I just couldnt pass up. Im pretty pleased with how they turned out....
Braaaaaaiiiiiiinnnsss!
Zombie Ballerina!
And just for fun, one of my favorite photos from the zombie pub crawl I went to....
