Its A Holly Jolly Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everyone! Its been some time since I've posted, so get ready for an extra long one! I have been a busy little elf this season. Let me take you to where it all began...

Aren't these little Santa's cute?! They are delicious too! I saw a similar idea online somewhere (I don't remember where!) and this appetizer caused me to get crafty!
These little Santa's are Ritz Crackers, cream cheese, celery, pepperoni and capers. Let me tell you the tangy and salty taste is delicious! These were a big hit!

Since Santa is such a jolly fellow, I moved on to Cookie Pops!

This sugar cookie fellows are decorated with royal icing and M&M's. Yummy on a stick!
I couldn't stop there. I've just begun dabbling in cookie decorating and 'tis the season for sugar cookies!
My lucky coworkers got some snowflake cookie bouquets!

Here are a couple of close ups of the snowflakes.

Of course, it didn't end there. I had this cute holly cutter that was just begging to be used. Besides, I did buy that whole bag of Holiday M&M's!

I was on such a baking kick, I had a lot of left over sugar cookie dough. What else could I do? Make melting snowmen!!

Don't you just want to gobble him up?! His little head and carrot nose are made from fondant. These little guys were very popular at a recent holiday party.
Now you're probably thinking, Fish? At Christmas? Yes they are! My girlfriend Jorden has been begging me to make her a Fish Cake. However, she lives in WI and I live in MN and I haven't quite figured out how to ship a Fish Cake to her. Shipping cookies, now that's another story! Jorden got a tiny little box with these cuties bubble wrapped inside! Merry Christmas Jorden!

I've also been obsessed with Peppermint this season. I even tried my hand at homemade peppermint marshmallows! Along with the theme, I made these "peppermint candy" cookies to go in my Peppermint Gift Bags.

I'm starting to get a little cookied out when an epiphany strikes! If any of you follow Bakerella you know that she is famous for her Cake Pops. Taking inspiration from her amazing work, I made these precious Elf Cake Pops!

Almost too jolly to eat!

That's my holiday baking adventure for this Christmas season!
Wishing everyone a warm and happy holiday!
Merry Christmas!!

Another Happy Meal

I was lucky enough to be asked to do a cake for a coworker. His adorable little boy, Levi turned 1 earlier this week. Levi got a giant hamburger cake and a whole lotta sliders. Who knew those little burger cupcakes would get to be so popular?!
Thanks Matt and Sara! Happy Birthday Levi!

Happy Halloween!

My friend Melinda has a Halloween party every year. This may be her last year hosting, so I wanted to give her something special. I had cake scraps from another project so I turned them into Halloween cake pops!! Check out my ghost, creepy eye, pumpkin, mummy and skeleton! Scary and delicious!

Golden Eiffel Tower

This weekend I made a special cake for my sister's golden birthday. We have done a lot of traveling together over the years, so I made her a cake to commemorate one of our trips. The tower was challenging, but in the end, it turned out great!
Both layers are chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling.

Elegant White

This weekend I made some pretty white cupcakes with pink hued flowers. These were for a small birthday celebration. Vanilla cupcakes with chocolate ganache and covered in fondant. Beautiful and delicious!

Cartoon Craziness!

I am going crazy for cartoons this week! I decided that the guys at work needed a special snack for our meetings this month. I took inspiration from some popular characters.
Check out Elmo, The Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street!

I also did Homer, Bart, Lisa and Maggie from The Simpson's. I didn't have enough time to get Marge done, but I'll try her the next time.

And last, one of my favorite shows, Family Guy. These in particular were a favorite amongst my co-workers.

They were all really fun to make. Who can I try next?

Alice In Wonderland

This weekend I made a cake that I have been dreaming about for awhile now. David and I moved into our first house a month ago. Yesterday was our housewarming party. We called it "Welcome To Our Wonderland" based on Disney's Alice in Wonderland. It was a childhood favorite for me. However this cake did not come easy for me. I constructed each layer, stacked it, and did a few decorations. I planned to finish the cake the morning before the party. I woke up in the morning to find this.....

I have no idea what happened! Thankfully the top two tiers were salvageable. David was so sweet, he ran to the store to get supplies for me so I could fix the cake before the party. I managed to pull it off and love the end result!

I found this cake stand at a secondhand store, how perfect is this? It just screams Queen of Hearts!
My favorite detail of this cake is the little card guy who was painting the roses red. Don't you just want to pinch him he's so cute?!

I was also ambitious and made sugar cookies decorated in Royal Icing. Its only my second attempt at decorating cookies, but I'm really enjoying it. I love how they turned out!
It was a long day, but I managed to complete the cake and nearly everything on the table was made from scratch by me as well. The party was great, the food delicious and best of all, the cake was a hit!

Our house is definitely warmed! Now it really feels like home!

Under the Tuscan Sun

I had a family reunion this weekend. Our theme this year was "Travis in Tuscany". I've been dying to try my hand at a topsy turvey cake, and I am quite pleased with my Tuscan Topsy Turvey!
I used Piruettes cookies to make the "fence". The bottom tier was chocolate, filled with peanutbutter and a layer of chocolate buttercream. The top tier was white chocolate with raspberry filling and a layer of cream cheese buttercream. It was a hit!

I also tried my hand at decorating sugar cookies with royal icing. They were so fun to make, turned out awesome and were of course, DELICIOUS!

Buffy & Angel

This weekend my friend Melinda turned 30! We had a surprise party for her and I got to make the cake! Melinda is a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel fan, so I made the cake to represent the two TV shows. She loved it!!

I tried some new techniques on this cake too. The top tier was white chocolate cake with raspberry filling, then covered in white chocolate ganache. The bottom tier was chocolate fudge cake with peanut butter filling and dark chocolate ganache. Both tiers were DELICIOUS!

Bundles of Joy

This weekend I had two different baby showers to make cupcakes for. A boy shower and a girl! How cute are these?!

For the little girl shower, I also made vanilla buttercream frosted cakes. The baby decorations were hand-made from fondant.
